Course Description

“Talapravahams’ are unique, first-of- its-kind compositions by Fiddling Monk. These compositions are based on the ‘Sapta Sooladi Talas’, which are the 7 basic rhythmic cycles that exist in Carnatic Music. There are five variations (jathis) for each of these talas, adding up to a total of 35 basic Talas.
In this course students will be learning the first set of Talapravahams in “Ata Talam” - one of the Sapta Sooladhi Talams. The course comprises 5 lilting melodies composed in the 5 different jathis of Ata talam and 5 different Ragams. Discover the magical intersection of mathematics and music as exquisite melodies unfold, showcasing the harmony between numbers and notes.
